Welcome to the First Issue of the Semantic Web Newsletter!
This newsletter is an initiative of the Semantic Web Services company Semanit. It was inspired by the fast growth of the Semantic Web group at Xing moderated by our company. We would like to provide a forum where semantic comunity can share ideas and information.

How You Can Contribute
This newsletter relies on contributions from the semantic web community at large. We would be happy to have your feedback, ideas, texts and links. You can:
- post comments on Semanit weblog: http://semanit.wordpress.com/;
- submit interesting links in del.icio.us for semanit which is an account dedicated to semantic web (just type “for:semanit” as a keyword when you submit a link and we will get it);
- submit posts to Semantic Web – business and technology group at xing.com;
- or you may decide to just send us an email at info@semanit.com.

Semantic Web Starting Making Sense
Big and small companies are getting into the business of building an intelligent web of linked data. SOME new ideas take wing spontaneously. Others struggle to be born. The “semantic web” is definitely in the latter category… An article on economist.com provides an interesting high-level overview of different approach that us closer to an web of beter organized, machine readable data. It covers Reuters’ Calais service, Yahoo approach and mentions some semantic start ups.

There is an interesting article on readwriteweb.com highlighting 10 Semantic Apps which represent the emergence of ‘Semantic Apps’ as a force. This topic was one of the highlights of October’s Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.
